Samuel Urkov DNP, FNP-C
Headache Specialist in Tacoma, WA
My journey as a healthcare provider is rooted in over a decade of critical care nursing experience and a deep-seated interest in understanding headache disorders. Through this journey, I’ve come to appreciate the importance of treating the whole-person, beyond just their symptoms. I align my treatment philosophy, especially in regard to migraine disease, with the biopsychosocial model, which describes disease as a complex interaction between one’s biology, psychology, and social environments. Using evidence-based treatments, I hope to ease the degree of suffering my patients experience from headache diseases.
My interest in headache medicine comes from a place of personal understanding, as I’ve experienced migraine attacks since I was young. This firsthand experience has given me a deep well of empathy for others who suffer from migraines and a strong desire to help those facing similar challenges.
In my practice, I blend Western medicine with insights from Eastern practices. To me, health is more than just the absence of illness – it’s about finding balance in body, mind, and spirit. Even a migraine attack can tell us something we need to know about our overall well-being.
My goal is to work with my patients to come up with a plan that integrates well with their lives. If you’re looking for a provider to help minimize the effects that headaches or migraines are having on your life, I’m here to listen and collaborate with you on your journey. I believe that each person has unique needs and insights into their own health, and I’m here to support and guide you towards your goals.
